Therapeutic Approaches

The right approach is that which works to alleviate suffering and increase resilience. It is usually a combination of modalities that best addresses cognitions, emotions, and the body, as well as, creates new behavioral patterns and beliefs.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

Body-oriented therapy that addresses the disconnection that happens between the mind and body resulting from trauma. Trauma lives within the body. This is why talk therapy alone is often insufficient for trauma survivors to heal.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

A specific therapy that accelerates the brain’s ability to process traumatic memories and develop effective coping mechanisms.

Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy

A therapy that teaches how replacing distorted thoughts and beliefs with more accurate and realistic ones results in choosing healthier behaviors.

Mindfulness & Meditation

Mindfulness practice includes both intention and attention to the present moment experience and adopting a non-judgmental focus on thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Meditation is a practice that helps promote relaxation, stress reduction, and an overall improved sense of wellbeing.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

A therapeutic approach that explores how feelings, emotions, and behaviors relate to early life experiences and how unconscious and conscious motivations affect our beliefs and behaviors.
